Associate Director, Energy and Infrastructure - Melbourne

About the role:

Reporting to the Director, Client Management & Execution (CME), the Associate Director is a key senior team member and part of a high performing team. You will be instrumental in providing origination support, credit analysis, deal execution, portfolio risk management functions and coaching on both Institutional Banking and non-recourse structured project finance transactions across the infrastructure, energy and utilities sector.

A key aspect of the role is to deliver client centric solutions in conjunction with the Client Coverage and Specialised Finance teams. You will build on your existing credit/analytical skills, playing a key role in driving superior client outcomes and delivering world class client relationships whilst executing new lending transactions.

In the role of Associate Director, you will join the Energy and Infrastructure, Client Management & Execution (CME) team that’s doubling down on moving with speed.

Each day, you’ll go above and beyond to: 

  • Manage the credit and legal documentation processes to ensure compliance with credit policy and agreed deal terms, respectively
  • Facilitate engagement between Client Coverage, Project Finance, and other Product Partners, to achieve a seamless client experience
  • Lead client engagement discussions on risk management and monitoring to support authoritative and factual insights on client operations and reporting
  • Be responsible monitoring and management of the risk profile and compliance requirements of the client portfolio
  • Be responsible for oversight of the risk profile monitoring and compliance requirements of each client portfolio with the Directorship; ensuring portfolio hygiene is a good standard
  • Coach and develop senior associates, associates and analysts within the team to bring their individual development plans to life, to uplift their sector knowledge and embed strong portfolio management skills.

We’re looking for the best and brightest to deliver the best for our customers. You’ll need:  

  • To be passionate about the sector possessing extensive experience working across this industry, ideally within a Corporate Finance, Institutional Banking or Structured Finance lending environment
  • Relevant tertiary qualification with quantitative disciplines such as finance, economics, engineering or actuarial studies and/or corporate law
  • Strong skills in financial modelling, credit writing, due diligence processes and loan documentation are required to ensure your success in this role
  • To provide significant experience input and support on structuring transactions, preparing credit submissions, employing financial modelling where required and making recommendations on transactions to credit
  • Manage the larger and more complex transactions within the CME Directorship alongside the portfolio Senior Associate and Associate/Analyst
  • Need awareness of market risk related issues (including legislation etc.)
  • Exceptional communication, relationship management and leadership skills
  • To provide regular guidance/coaching to senior associates, associates and analysts within the team.
