Director - Equipment Management – Sydney

  • Asset Finance & Leasing (AF&L) arranges secured asset financing and leasing transactions, predominantly for high value, long-life mobile assets, across a range of industries.
  • The Equipment Management (EM) Director is an internal appraiser and an integral part of AF&L for both new transaction origination and portfolio management
  • The EM Director will support the AF&L team to drive the business’ position in the market and deliver on the overall strategic plan for the business.

In the role of Director, Equipment Management you will report to Director, AF&L Client Management & Execution (CME) that’s doubling down on keeping it simple and winning together.

Each day you will go above and beyond to:

  • Deliver valued contributions to transactions and consistently producing quality asset papers and reliable valuations
  • Proactive risk management, meeting all regulatory and internal policy requirements
  • Preparation of market valuations (current and forecast) for a range of asset classes.  Establishing market value haircuts, accounting for various factors including market downturn, remarketing and holding costs
  • Validation of external appraiser assumptions
  • Technical and commercial advice on new asset classes
  • Input into management of the residual value portfolio, including setting residual positions for new transactions, setting return conditions, and assessment of asset coverage of existing transactions.
  • Preparation of annual Residual Value Committee paper
  • Sector knowledge, analysing market data, providing insights papers
  • Engaging and instructing external appraisers
  • Conducting inspections/ site visits
  • Providing advice on the process for end of lease asset sales

We’re looking for the best and brightest to deliver the best for our customers. You’ll need:

  • Valuation accreditation (ideally American Society of Appraisers or equivalent)
  • Technical knowledge of a wide range of large ticket asset classes and industries including mining equipment, rail rolling stock, transport assets, and industrial plant
  • Strong customer and compliance focus;
  • Understanding of financing structures and risk management.
  • Solid numerical skills and proficiency in modelling current and future values;
  • Writing of asset papers, documenting valuation methodologies and providing a reliable and credible opinion of value;
  • Physical inspection of assets.
  • Valuation experience (preferably at a financial institution or professional services firm) – minimum 8-10 years
  • Multi asset class experience
  • Broad industry network
