Legal Counsel-Regulatory Advisory

In this role, you will provide legal advice with appropriate support as needed with Regulatory Advisory and Financial Crime Legal colleagues and stakeholders. This role will assist stakeholders to consider holistic implications of financial crime issues.

Each day, you’ll go above and beyond to: 

  • Provide subject matter expertise and legal advice on financial crime laws and associated regulatory issues to NAB Group. 
  • Advise on and (if appropriate) support any updates to NAB Group policy and procedure in relation to financial crime, including the NAB Group AML/CTF Program. 
  • Have the opportunity to provide legal advice in relation to a range of other regulatory issues and engagements, including regulator consultations. 
  • Contribute effectively as a member of the Regulatory Advisory Legal team. 

We are looking for the best and brightest to deliver the best for our customers. You’ll need:

  • 4 years + post admission experience in private, public and/or in-house legal practice. 
  • Prior experience in a role providing financial crime advice (including AML, anti-bribery and/ or sanctions laws) is highly desirable, including advising on the Anti-Money Laundering / Counter-Terrorism Financing Act. 
  • If no financial crime experience, expertise in areas of law that are complementary to financial crime and a desire to learn financial crime laws.  Complementary areas include financial products and services, banking and payments or comparable regulatory contexts. 
  • A Bachelor of Laws or equivalent degree and a current Australian Practising Certificate. 
  • Experience and maturity to work autonomously and juggle competing demands in a very busy and energised environment. 
  • Excellent organisational skills, including prioritisation and time management.
