Senior Associate, Government Affairs and Public Policy

 In this Senior Associate, Government Affairs and Public Policy role, you will

  • Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders including government, industry associations and other external stakeholders.
  • Advocate NAB’s position with government, bureaucracy, industry groups and other stakeholders to give effect to Group strategy.
  • Developing submissions and other relevant written materials.
  • Represent NAB on relevant Australian Banking Association and other industry working groups.
  • Provide advice to NAB divisions and executives on developments in government policy and the impact of these on the Group’s interests.
  • Develop and maintain an up-to-date understanding of political and public policy issues likely to impact the commercial, operational and strategic interests of NAB and its customers.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a forward-looking and effective government relations and public policy strategy to ensure positive reputational outcomes for NAB.

What you’ll bring

  • 3-7 years' experience in a relevant or similar role. Experience in a government department, agency or political office is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication, written and interpersonal skills.
  • An ability to influence outcomes within the business that help develop and consolidate NAB’s relationship with government and public policy organisations.
  • Sound judgment to discern potential impacts of public policy changes to NAB’s business models/divisions.
  • An ability to think strategically, seize opportunities, break through problems and weigh up the options to identify solutions.
  • An understanding of, and interest in, the economic, fiscal and other policy issues impacting the banking industry.
  • An ability to build, maintain and leverage relationships with colleagues, government representatives and industry stakeholders to achieve results.
