In this Principle Engineer, Integration Design role, you will join our Integration and Tech Governance team owning it and winning together.

Each day, you’ll go above and beyond to support with: 

• Own and evolve NABServ (platform roadmap and technical direction): Set a clear technical roadmap for the platform: developer experience, standard patterns, runtime currency, operational readiness. Establish effective contribution and decision mechanisms so the platform scales with demand (platform product mindset).
• Rationalize microservices and reduce duplication: Establish a practical method to identify duplicated capabilities and overlapping services. Drive service boundary rationalization and consolidation outcomes with domain teams, improving cohesion and reducing unnecessary network calls.
• Move governance into code (automation-first controls): Convert key standards and guardrails into automated checks within delivery pipelines, reducing reliance on manual governance. Promote “secure defaults” and enforceable controls as part of the standard build-and-release path.
• Enable event-driven integration patterns where they improve resilience: Drive consistent event-driven approaches to reduce tight synchronous coupling and improve system resilience.
• Lead data-driven executive conversations: Establish clear baselines, targets, and progress measures for simplification and platform adoption. Present options, trade-offs, and sequence to senior stakeholders; drive decisions to completion.

We’re looking for the best and brightest to deliver the best for our customers. You’ll need:  

• Microservices architecture expertise: service boundaries, decomposition, right sizing, and operational trade-offs.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot engineering experience in production environments (design, build, operate).
• Strong NodeJS engineering experience for production services.
• Strong build and delivery engineering: Gradle; experience with modern build optimisation approaches (Bazel exposure desirable).
• Cloud-native delivery experience (containers, Kubernetes-based runtime, CI/CD, release safety practices).
• Experience influencing senior technology stakeholders (CIO/GM level).
• Strong platform/product mindset builds reusable capabilities and sets guardrails that scale.
• Strong communication: can explain complex topics simply and drive alignment across teams.
