Senior Legal Counsel-UBank

Ubank is growing, and we currently have an opportunity for a senior lawyer to join the NAB legal team as a Senior Legal Counsel – Ubank on a fixed term contract.  

You will give commercial, customer-focused, strategic advice to our Ubank business partners to support the delivery of innovative technology, award winning products and market leading customer experiences.

Each day, you’ll go above and beyond to: 

  • Provide quality, commercial, customer-focused legal advice to our business stakeholders. 

  • Support Ubank meet its strategic goals in a way that meets legal and regulatory requirements and effectively manages risk. 

  • Support simplification and process improvement initiatives in the business and in legal. 

We’re looking for the best and brightest to deliver the best for our customers, you’ll need:  

  • A Bachelor of Laws, and be admitted to legal practice in Australia.  

  • Approximately 7 years + PQE as a lawyer at a firm or in-house.  

  • Experience in financial services law, including some, or all, of the following: 

  • the National Consumer Credit Protection Act and National Credit Code. 

  • Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act (deposits and/or investment products). 

  • Relevant industry codes. 

  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively. 

  • Be curious, honest and respectful. You will own your work, doing what’s right, even when it’s hard.  

  • The experience and maturity to work autonomously, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team.  

  • Excellent organisational skills, and the ability to juggle competing demands in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
