Audit Manager - Data Scientist
- Bring your data science craft to work that matters: strengthening assurance, improving efficiency, and helping teams make better decisions.
- Use Databricks, Python and SQL to deliver decision-ready insights, with strong engineering and documentation discipline.
- Join a team that values curiosity, positivity, agility, and winning together.
Our people are customer obsessed. They prioritise the needs and satisfaction of the customer above all else. Our mindset fosters innovation and creates strong, lasting customer relationships as we strive to be the most customer centric company in Australia and New Zealand.
In the role of Audit Manager, you will join Internal Audit’s Operations and Data Analytics team that’s focused on winning together.
Each day you will go above and beyond to:
- Frame the problem: translate objectives into analytical questions, hypotheses and success criteria.
- Prepare the data: extract and transform data to ensure fitness for purpose.
- Apply fit-for-purpose techniques: select appropriate statistical/ML/analytical approaches and validate outputs proportionate to intent.
- Communicate clearly: share outcomes, assumptions and limitations in a way stakeholders can use.
- Be audit-defensible by design: maintain traceable artefacts, provenance, and ensure outputs are retrievable for QA.
- Work with strong engineering hygiene: use GitHub PR-based peer review and record review evidence.
- Contribute to uplift and reuse: mentor others and contribute reusable assets where relevant.
What you’ll bring
- Substantial years of Databricks experience (notebooks, SQL Warehouse, Jobs/Workflows, Repos), advanced SQL and Python skills.
- Problem solving and analytical judgement (problem framing, hypotheses, success criteria).
- Demonstrated end-to-end DS delivery once assigned (scope → build → validate → stakeholder-ready outputs).
- Proven ability to work with ambiguity, complex datasets and statistical/ML techniques in time-bound delivery.
- Experience with Audit-defensible documentation discipline (exploratory vs evidentiary, traceability, provenance, retrievable artefacts).
- MLOps fundamentals / Production ready artifacts.
We respectfully ask candidates to hold any questions for the phone interview, where we’ll discuss the role in detail and answer any questions. This helps to ensure a focussed, efficient and fair application process. The talent acquisition team looks forward to addressing all inquiries at that time if your application progresses.
