Senior Consultant, Strategic Sourcing

  • 10-month fixed-term opportunity to join Procurement.
  • Drive procurement initiatives and manage relationships across Strategic Consulting and Advisory.
  • Expertise in negotiating complex consulting contracts, master services agreements and statements of work at a senior level.

Our people are customer obsessed. They prioritise the needs and satisfaction of the customer above all else.  Our mindset fosters innovation and creates strong, lasting customer relationships as we strive to be the most customer centric company in Australia and New Zealand.

In the role of Senior Consultant you’ll join NAB’s Strategic Sourcing team that’s doubling down on winning together.

Each day you will go above and beyond to:

  • Deliver measurable cost optimisation across Strategic Consulting and Advisory spend through stronger rates, commercial terms, demand management and benefits realisation against an agreed baseline.
  • Challenge demand, eliminate duplication and consolidate engagements, reducing external consulting reliance where internal capability can deliver the required outcome.
  • Shape the supplier portfolio by evaluating and onboarding differentiated capability, strengthening strategic partnerships and driving greater value from existing providers across the Enabling and Workforce units.
  • Develop and execute category and sourcing strategies informed by market intelligence, spend analysis and business priorities to deliver sustainable commercial value.
  • Build credibility with senior stakeholders, maintain momentum against critical timelines and navigate competing priorities while ensuring sourcing decisions deliver appropriate commercial outcomes.
  • Identify commercial, operational and supplier risks early, and implement proportionate controls and mitigation plans that protect continuity and value.
  • Lead day-to-day supplier governance for NAB’s strategic partner firms, maintaining strong commercial relationships, monitoring performance and ensuring engagements operate within contractual, policy and regulatory obligations expected of a regulated entity.
  • Maintain disciplined sourcing governance and ensure activities comply with company policies, regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Own the accuracy, integrity and effectiveness of management reporting, ensuring ELT receives timely, decision-useful insights on consulting spend, supplier performance and compliance metrics.

What you will bring:

  • Ability to develop and implement long-term sourcing strategies for Strategic Consulting and Advisory spend that align with business objectives and market trends.
  • Expertise in negotiating complex consulting and advisory engagements, statements of work and rate cards to secure favourable terms and pricing.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess supplier performance, market conditions and cost structures, facilitating data-driven decision-making.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Competence in identifying potential risks in the supply chain and developing strategies to mitigate them effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for articulating sourcing strategies, presenting data and influencing stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles related to procurement, including budgeting, cost analysis and benefits realisation.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and data analysis tools.
  • Progressive experience in sourcing, procurement or category management. Candidates with demonstrated experience managing Professional Services categories—particularly Strategic Consulting and Advisory—will be highly regarded.
