About the Role
The Senior Health & Safety Business Partner champions a proactive and compliant health and safety culture. This role provides expert guidance, ensuring effective risk management and regulatory compliance across the University. The incumbent will collaborate with leaders to develop and implement strategic initiatives that enhance health and safety across all levels.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and implementing sustainable process improvements across all areas of responsibility.
  • Offering specialist health and safety advice, ensuring regulatory compliance, and assisting clients in managing risks effectively.
  • Supervising the health and safety team, maintaining expertise through continuous learning, and contributing to strategic planning and budget management.


Who we are looking for
We seek a highly motivated Health and Safety professional with a strong understanding of relevant legislation and proven experience in developing and implementing robust management systems. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and leadership skills, a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects effectively, and ideally have experience working within a complex organisation. Knowledge of self-insurance requirements and experience with high-risk environments are highly desirable.

You will also have:

  • The appointee will have a relevant tertiary qualification, or have an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements in health and safety.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of auditable health and safety management systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of University or like organisational culture is desirable.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
