About the Role
The School of Computing and Information Systems at the University of Melbourne is seeking a passionate academic to contribute to teaching and research in Cyber Security. Based in Melbourne Connect, this role involves leading innovative research, publishing in top-tier venues, securing independent funding, and collaborating with industry and interdisciplinary teams across the University. The successful candidate will join a world-class Cyber Security research group, teach at undergraduate and graduate levels, and engage with industry and government partners to drive impactful advancements in the field.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Teach subjects to a standard that delivers a high-quality learning experience for students in the Bachelors and Masters, as directed by the Head of School or Deputy Head; 
  • Conduct lectures and tutorials at undergraduate and postgraduate level including engagement in teaching innovation and improvement; 
  • Develop and innovate high quality subject materials and subject delivery, including the use of web resources as appropriate; 
  • Preparation of project work to support student learning; 
  • Conduct high quality scholarly research in the discipline of Cyber Security;
  • Build and foster partnerships with industry, government and other collaborators.

 

Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will be a collaborative and adaptable researcher with a strong track record in Cyber Security, demonstrating excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with academic, industry, and international stakeholders. They will possess a proactive and interdisciplinary mindset, excelling in teamwork, independent research, and knowledge-sharing through teaching, seminars, and collaborative projects.

You will also have:

  • A PhD in computer science, software engineering or information systems (or relevant discipline); 
  • A track record of quality research in Cyber Security as evidenced by research publications in leading peer-reviewed conferences or journals commensurate with opportunity;
  • Demonstrated ability to perform independent research and a commitment to interdisciplinary research;

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
