About the Role

As an Education Fellow in Architectural Design, you will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of designers through engaging educational practices and curriculum development. With a focus on fostering student welfare and ensuring high-quality learning outcomes, you will collaborate with senior academic staff to enhance the student experience. Your expertise in architectural representation (analogue and digital), design technology, and studio pedagogy, will contribute to the evolution of design education at both undergraduate and graduate levels, making a significant impact on the field's future direction.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Active contribution to teaching delivery, subject communication, and administration of architectural design subjects with a focus on the core design enabling subjects in the Bachelor of Design.
  • Contribution to studio-based subjects in the Bachelor of Design and Master of Architecture programs.
  • Supporting the ongoing development and evaluation of curriculum and educational resources in alignment with the Melbourne Curriculum and the relevant accreditation requirement of the professional degree in architecture.

Who We Are Looking For

You will possess a proven ability to educate, inspire, and support students effectively, whether working independently or collaboratively. Your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with strong organisational abilities, ensure timely task completion and a positive impact within the team environment.

You will also have:

  • A professional qualification and relevant industry-based experience and/or PhD in the relevant discipline.
  • Extensive relevant experience in teaching and teaching administration within the discipline, particularly in the context of large and/or transdisciplinary undergraduate design and design enabling subjects
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in architectural representation, architectural drawing conventions, design process and broader design communication techniques in educational and/or professional contexts.
  • A working knowledge of the National Standards of Competency for Architects (NCSA) and other benchmarks for the assessment by the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA)

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
