About the Role
The Early Childhood Educator (Certificate III) supports the education and care of children at the University of Melbourne Early Childhood Services, aligning with the centre's teaching philosophy and the National Quality Framework. Working collaboratively with the Centre Director, Educational Leader, and other educators, the role ensures a nurturing and high-quality learning environment for young children.
Your responsibilities will include:
- In conjunction with Early Childhood Teachers, Early Childhood Diploma educators and other educators, implement a high-quality curriculum for all enrolled children that is consistent with the Centre’s philosophy, policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the documentation of children’s learning and development under the guidance of the Educational Leader, Early Childhood Teachers , Diploma Educators and other Educators.
- Work together with colleagues to provide a safe, supportive, inclusive and educationally stimulating environments for all children.
- To supervise children’s activities to ensure the safety of each child at all times.
Who we are looking for
The ideal candidate possesses strong verbal and written communication skills, understands early childhood development, and effectively builds relationships with children and parents. They demonstrate teamwork, flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to reflect on and improve teaching practices.
You will also have:
- An approved Early Childhood Educator (Certificate III) qualification as approved by ACECQA.
- Experience of working as a member of a team in an approved education and care service.
- A current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Current first Aid (HLTAID012) and CPR (HLTAID009)
- Current Protecting Children- Mandatory Reporting and Other Obligations for the Early Childhood Sector certificate
- Food Safety/Handlers certificate
- The incumbent will have knowledge of relevant Federal and State Government legislation

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
