About the Role
The Department of Chemical Engineering invites applications for multiple new Graduate Researcher Academic Associate (GRAA) positions from graduate researchers currently enrolled in the Faculty (in either a Doctor of Philosophy or other research doctorate). As an Education-Focused GRAA in Chemical Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing student learning, experience, and outcomes through the delivery and development of innovative teaching materials and laboratory practicals. Collaborating with Subject Coordinators and the teaching team, you will focus on creating accessible, inclusive resources while embracing cutting-edge educational practices. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and delivery of programmes that strengthen industry connections and drive meaningful change in the Department of Chemical Engineering.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering laboratory sessions, tutorials, and workshops; developing teaching materials; ensuring high pedagogical standards in curricula; and managing software platforms like MATLAB and HYSYS.
- Conducting student consultations, monitoring discussion boards, and supporting the Subject Coordinator in managing student requests and queries.
- Assisting with assessment development, marking, and infrastructure setup (e.g., Canvas rubrics), and supporting academic integrity case management.
- Managing subject administration, Canvas pages, and submissions while participating in professional development and University-certified teaching programmes.
In addition, you will be supported to participate as a valued academic member of the Department in contributing to the academic mission, life and community and supported to engage in at least 30 hours of paid professional development annually.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines. You will also demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development, fostering a respectful and inclusive workplace, and adhering to the University's policies and standards.
You will also have:
- Enrolment in a graduate research degree (Doctor of Philosophy or equivalent) within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Melbourne, with satisfactory progress.
- Expertise and domain knowledge in Chemical Engineering.
- Strong ability to educate, inspire, and support students both individually and as part of a team.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and collaborative learning environment.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
