About the Role
The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology is seeking a researcher in human-computer interaction, novel interactive systems, or human-centered AI interfaces to join the School of Computing and Information Systems. As part of a world-class research group, you will collaborate with leading experts in computer science, AI, and information systems while contributing to high-impact publications in top venues such as ACM CHI and UIST. This role is ideal for an early to mid-career scholar looking to advance their research and leadership in the field.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Build a significant research program in novel interactive systems, and related fields.
  • Exercise leadership in scholarly research and build interdisciplinary research teams.
  • Present research seminars and workshops within the School and in external forums (e.g., international conferences).
  • Publish peer-reviewed scholarly papers in reputable international conferences and journals in HCI.

Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will be a collaborative and adaptable researcher with strong communication skills and a commitment to interdisciplinary teamwork, particularly in human-computer interaction, human-centred AI or fabrication. They will demonstrate the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including industry and academia, while excelling in independent research, teaching, and mentoring within a dynamic and evolving environment.

You will also have:

  • A PhD in either Computer Science and Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction (or equivalent);
  • A relevant research track record as evidenced by research publications on the development of novel interactive systems or human-centred AI in top-ranked journals, and conferences, commensurate with opportunity;
  • Demonstrated ability to perform independent research;

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
