About the Role
Play a key role in advancing the impact and reach of the Melbourne node of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course (Life Course Centre). Working in a dynamic research environment, you will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless coordination of complex projects, fostering collaboration across diverse stakeholders, and contributing to initiatives that drive meaningful change. This is an opportunity to apply your leadership, organisational expertise, and problem-solving skills in a role that blends strategic thinking with hands-on engagement, supporting world-class research and influencing positive outcomes for communities and families.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing administrative and operational functions, including governance processes, financial reporting, research grant administration, and compliance with funding requirements.
  • Coordinating strategic capacity-building initiatives, student support services, and engagement activities, driving collaboration across faculties, partner institutions, and external stakeholders.
  • Providing high-level project management support by developing and implementing efficient administrative processes, tracking milestones, and preparing reports to support research activities and Centre operations.
  • Liaising with academics, professional staff, and external partners to streamline workflows, oversee resource allocation, and contribute to the Centre’s strategic objectives.

Who We Are Looking For
You are a highly organised and proactive professional with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, adept at building strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. Your ability to navigate complex environments with diplomacy, sound judgement, and discretion enables you to manage competing priorities effectively while maintaining a keen attention to detail. Your collaborative and adaptable approach will see you thrive in a dynamic setting, where you will exercise initiative, problem-solving skills, and strategic thinking to support the Centre’s operations and long-term objectives. Your commitment to excellence, coupled with a resourceful and solutions-focused mindset, ensures you make a meaningful contribution to the success of the team.

You also have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent combination of education and extensive relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing complex projects and operational processes within a large, dynamic organisation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and provide strategic insights.
  • Proficiency in financial and resource management, including budgeting, workforce planning, and cost control.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
