Your next career opportunity
As a Research Coordinator at St Vincent's Hospital, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of medical professionals. You'll supervise and teach medical students in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme, focusing on the Clinical Scholar and Research Scholar pathways. This role offers you the opportunity to drive high-impact research, mentor students, and contribute to curriculum development in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate Student Research: Liaise with supervisors, guide research outputs, and oversee student research activities at St Vincent's Hospital.
- Deliver Engaging Teaching: Participate in teaching activities across different year levels of the MD programme and within clinical subjects.
- Provide Student Support: Offer mentorship and pastoral care to students undertaking research at St Vincent's.
- Contribute to Academic Leadership: Collaborate with staff to implement the new medical curriculum and support the academic community.
You may be a great fit if:
You are a qualified medical professional with specialist registration, possessing a postgraduate research degree and demonstrating expertise in research supervision, teaching, and stakeholder management within the university/hospital sector.
You may also:
- Hold a medical qualification recognised in Victoria, Australia, with specialist registration in a relevant discipline.
- Have a postgraduate research-based degree (Masters level or PhD) with demonstrated research expertise.
- Possess previous teaching experience within the university/hospital sector.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- Have an established working relationship with St Vincent's Health.

Your new team – Department of Medical Education
The Department of Medical Education was established as a department within the Melbourne Medical School in 2015. It has responsibility for the delivery of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) course, research in medical education and a range of professional development postgraduate and non-award programs. The department employs 160+ fixed-term and permanent staff in collaboration with our health service partners to deliver the education, research and engagement activities of the department. This is complemented by a large, actively engaged network of over 180 honorary staff.
As the first Australian professional entry masters level medical program, the Melbourne MD creates a new benchmark in 21st century medical education. It delivers advanced clinical and academic training to ensure students are prepared for the challenges of a high-quality medical internship. The MD is a 4-year program with an intake of approximately 350 students per year. The degree is delivered through our Parkville campus, metropolitan and rural Clinical Schools, and partner organisations.
