About - Office of the Provost
The Office of the Provost is led by the Provost and supports the realisation of learning and teaching, academic performance and student experience objectives, as outlined in Advancing Melbourne 2030.
The Provost oversees strategy, policy and program development and works closely with the University's academic and administrative leaders.
About the Role
As the Communications Lead for Indigenous Strategy, you'll play a pivotal role in promoting the University of Melbourne's commitment to Indigenous self-determination. You'll develop and deliver engaging content across multiple channels, showcasing Indigenous education programs, research, and partnerships. This role offers you the chance to drive awareness and advocacy for key Indigenous initiatives, working closely with senior leadership and diverse stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop Strategic Communications: Plan and execute integrated, culturally informed communication plans for Murmuk Djerring and other key initiatives.
- Create Compelling Content: Produce high-quality materials for various channels, including media, stakeholder engagement, and internal communications.
- Build Strong Relationships: Collaborate with Indigenous colleagues across the University to effectively capture and promote Indigenous work.
- Measure and Improve: Develop feedback methodologies to ensure continuous improvement of communication initiatives.
This role will support Indigenous leadership across the University ensuring the breadth and depth of Indigenous education and research can be celebrated and communicated to a variety of audiences.
About You
You are a skilled communications professional with lived experience and a deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, coupled with the ability to effectively communicate Indigenous perspectives within a complex organisational setting.
You will also have:
- Have extensive experience in strategic communications.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrate a track record of delivering exceptional service in a large, complex organisation.
- Have experience in Indigenous strategy, particularly in a higher education context.
- Be proactive, adaptable, and able to work with ambiguity while maintaining high ethical standards.
- Have the ability to build collaborative relationships across a large organisation.
