Your next career opportunity
As a Research Fellow at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Transformative Meta-Optical Systems (TMOS), you'll be at the forefront of developing next-generation miniaturised optical systems. In this role, you will contribute to the experimental development of new nano-optical devices and their integration into optical systems. You will be involved in the design and simulation of meta-optical components, as well as their fabrication using nanotechnology techniques. The role also includes developing methods for optical and/or electrical characterisation.

You will be based at The University of Melbourne Parkville campus and work under the supervision of the Professor Ann Roberts.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct Innovative Research: Design, simulate, and fabricate meta-optical devices, developing new characterisation methods.
  • Collaborate and Communicate: Work closely with researchers across TMOS nodes and present findings at conferences and seminars.
  • Contribute to Academic Output: Prepare and publish high-quality research papers in leading journals.
  • Support Student Development: Assist in supervising and mentoring research students.

You may be a great fit if:
You are a highly motivated researcher with a PhD in physics or electrical engineering, possessing strong experimental skills in nanofabrication and optical characterisation, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of optical technologies.

You may also:

  • Have expertise in theoretical modelling and simulation of optical devices.
  • Possess experience in experimental semiconductor device physics and electronics.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English.
  • Value collaboration and enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Have a track record of high-quality publications and presentations.
  • Be skilled in project management and meeting research deadlines.
