Your next career opportunity
As an Academic Specialist in Technology and Media, you'll join the Built Environments Learning + Teaching (BEL+T) group at the University of Melbourne. You'll have the opportunity to apply your digital learning design expertise to transform built environment education. Your role will involve creating innovative digital resources, supporting curriculum development, and contributing to research in learning and teaching practices.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design Innovative Digital Resources: Create tailored resources to enhance student learning in built environment disciplines, such as multimedia content, spatial communication resources, and virtual site visits.
- Support Curriculum Development: Collaborate with faculty to develop and implement effective teaching and learning approaches, including face-to-face, flipped, blended, and hybrid models.
- Contribute to Research and Best Practices: Engage in continuous improvement of teaching quality, contribute to research publications, and stay updated with emerging approaches in higher education.
- Provide Technical Support: Assist with Canvas LMS site design, maintain the BEL+T website, and support the ABP video/audio Microstudio.

You are a creative and strategic thinker with expertise in digital learning design, particularly for built environment disciplines, and possess strong coding and communication skills to develop and deliver high-quality educational resources and support.
You may also:
- Have a relevant qualification or experience in applying learning design theory to practice, especially in built environment disciplines.
- Possess expertise in digital platforms, tools, and data for student learning and staff professional development.
- Demonstrate creative and strategic thinking abilities.
- Have strong coding and communication skills.
- Be experienced in producing multimedia content and interactive resources.
- Show a commitment to best-practice usability and accessibility principles.

The Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning is the leading educational and research institution in the Asia-Pacific region addressing the design and realisation of inhabited environments. It actively seeks to extend the linkages between education, research and practice in the built environment, and maintains excellent and extensive relationships with members of the built environment professions, government, professional associations and the wider community.
The Faculty has over 200 staff and 3000 students, one third of whom are international. It is responsible for the undergraduate Bachelor of Design degree, and offers majors in architecture, landscape architecture, property, construction, and urban planning.
The Faculty’s graduate school, the Melbourne School of Design (MSD), teaches accredited masters courses across the professional disciplines of Architecture, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Property, Urban Design and Urban Planning.
