We are seeking an experienced and driven Operations Manager to lead our Sunshine West (VIC) branch of a well-established commercial paint business. This role is pivotal in managing day-to-day site operations, overseeing a diverse team of painters, project managers and business development staff. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the branch while driving business growth and operational excellence.

Without the need for paint industry experience, you’ll have the chance to leverage your management experience from similar sectors, with a strong focus on people leadership, business strategy, and team development.

Leveraging your strong leadership and business acumen, your key responsibilities will be to:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Sunshine West branch, ensuring efficiency and smooth workflow.
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of painters, along with a Project Manager and a Business Development Manager, fostering collaboration and driving performance.
- Take responsibility for managing the site’s P&L, including budget tracking, forecasting, and driving profitability.
- Monitor and ensure the successful completion of projects on time, within budget, and to client specifications.
- Foster a positive and high-performance team culture, ensuring clear communication and strong morale across all levels of staff.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute business growth strategies and process improvements.
- Support the development of new business opportunities and manage key client relationships.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, company policies, and industry regulations.
About You
We are looking for an individual with a strong leadership background, excellent business acumen, and a solid understanding of managing a P&L. While paint industry experience is not essential, experience in managing trades or blue-collar staff in a similar industry (such as construction or facilities management) will be highly advantageous. The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven people leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate diverse teams.
- Strong business acumen, with experience in managing P&L budgets, financial tracking, and forecasting.
- Background in account or sales management, with an ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to operational management.
