About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead a small team of trade and handyperson staff, responsible for delivering maintenance services as part of a critical facility management contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leadership role within a dynamic team, supporting preventative and reactive maintenance at a high-security correctional facility focused on prisoner health, rehabilitation, and safer communities.
This permanent, full-time position is based in Gatton (QLD) and will be instrumental in driving team performance, operational efficiency, and ensuring all maintenance activities align with contractual, financial, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a small team of plumbers and handypersons.
- Oversee day-to-day maintenance across the facility.
- Coordinate preventative and reactive works.
- Troubleshoot issues and provide hands-on support.
- Ensure compliance with safety and security protocols.
- Manage plumbing installs, upgrades, and repairs.
- Keep accurate maintenance records.
- Drive team performance and operational efficiency.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring experience in managing a small team of trades staff for preventive and reactive maintenance. You’re passionate about delivering high-quality work and are deeply committed to safety; both for yourself and your team. Additionally, you will have:
- Trade qualification (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.) preferred
- Experience leading a team of trades staff
- Current driver’s license and White Card (preferred)
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex issues
- Proven experience in scheduling and prioritizing maintenance work
- Skilled in managing reactive works and quoting projects
- Professional, reliable, and effective communicator
- Excellent time management and attention to detail
- "Can-do" attitude with a commitment to safety
- Strong customer service focus in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
