About the Opportunity

We’re seeking a commercially savvy and driven Business Development Executive (BDE) to lead growth across the facilities management sector. In this senior role, you’ll identify and secure new opportunities while managing the retention and renewal of key contracts with public and private sector clients. Our services encompass everything from essential building repairs and maintenance to complex asset management and large-scale infrastructure projects across Australia and New Zealand.

As a senior member of our team, you’ll play a central role in shaping our business development strategy, working closely with internal stakeholders to align opportunities with commercial goals, and externally to build strong, enduring client relationships.

This full-time position, based at our Collins Street head office in Docklands (VIC), offers a unique opportunity to influence the future growth of a successful, ‘Tier 1’ service provider, lead major bids, and drive long-term value, helping us deliver on our mission to build outstanding people, strong customers, and great communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities that align with Programmed’s strategic priorities.
  • Oversee the development of tenders and proposals for new business and retention; leading and facilitating bid strategy and solutioning.
  • Ensure the commercial and operational viability of tenders by working closely with internal teams to develop delivery models, resourcing plans, and pricing.
  • Negotiate contract terms and close high-value deals in line with budget expectations and risk frameworks.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure a smooth transition from bid award to operational delivery.
  • Conduct market analysis and competitor benchmarking to inform business development strategy and positioning.
  • Promote Programmed’s capabilities at industry events, client meetings, and through targeted engagement activities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key partners and industry stakeholders to support long-term growth.
  • Drive the retention, extension, and growth of existing contracts by fostering strong client relationships and delivering value.

About You

You are a strategic thinker and persuasive communicator, with a track record of winning and retaining major contracts within facilities management or a related operational environment. Your strength lies in your ability to build relationships, influence key stakeholders, and deliver outcomes in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.

Additionally, you will demonstrate and possess the following:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or client relationship management, ideally within FM or services related to the built environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience with contract negotiation and bid management.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage at executive level.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under pressure.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing and presentation delivery.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools, sales pipeline reporting, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong alignment with our core values, including personal safety leadership, care and empathy, exceptional customer service, and a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equality.
