Job Summary

The General Manager - APAC Cybersecurity is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of cybersecurity strategies, governance, and operations across the Asia-Pacific region. This position ensures the protection of organisational assets, data, and systems from cyber threats, while enabling secure business growth and regulatory compliance. The GM plays a critical role in shaping the organisation’s cyber resilience posture, leading security programs, and aligning cybersecurity initiatives with strategic business objectives.


Key Responsibilities

Cybersecurity Strategy & Regional Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive APAC cybersecurity strategy aligned with global security objectives and regional regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the primary cybersecurity authority for APAC, providing strategic guidance to senior executives and business units.
  • Monitor emerging threats, technology trends, and geopolitical risks to proactively adapt security measures.

Cyber Risk Management & Resilience

  • Lead regional cyber risk assessments, ensuring threats are identified, prioritised, and addressed through appropriate controls and mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee security operations, including incident detection, response, and recovery to ensure minimal business disruption.
  • Establish and maintain robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans specific to cyber incidents.

Security Governance, Compliance & Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with relevant APAC regulations, including privacy laws, industry standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Embed security-by-design principles across technology, operations, and project delivery.
  • Conduct regular audits, penetration tests, and vulnerability assessments to validate the effectiveness of security controls.

Cybersecurity Projects & Transformation Initiatives

  • Lead major APAC security initiatives, such as Zero Trust implementation, advanced threat detection deployments, and cloud security enhancements.
  • Oversee secure integration of emerging technologies, ensuring risk is managed without hindering innovation.
  • Coordinate regional cybersecurity programs with global teams to ensure alignment and knowledge sharing.

Stakeholder Engagement & Awareness

  • Partner with business leaders, technology teams, and external stakeholders to ensure security priorities are integrated into business planning.
  • Champion cybersecurity awareness and training programs to build a security-conscious culture across APAC.
  • Represent the APAC region in global security forums, steering committees, and industry networks.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing cybersecurity teams across multiple APAC locations.
  • Promote diversity, inclusion, and continuous professional development within the security function.
  • Manage relationships with external security service providers and technology vendors.

 

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity roles, including at least 5 years in a senior regional leadership capacity.
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, ASD E8) and APAC-specific regulatory environments.
  • Proven track record in managing multi-country security operations and incident response.
  • Experience with cloud, hybrid, and on-premise security architectures.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or equivalent.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at the executive level.
