About the Opportunity  

An exciting opportunity exists for an Electrical & Communications Estimator to join our Programmed Electrical Technologies team on a permanent, full-time basis, based in Hindmarsh, SA.

In this role, you will lead estimations and tenders for medium to large-scale projects across the Defence, Government, Education, Commercial, and Financial sectors within the NSW, ACT, and South Australia regions. You’ll play a key role in helping the business secure new projects by developing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and delivering accurate and efficient cost and timeline estimates that align with company profit targets.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, you’ll bring strong technical expertise, commercial acumen, and a collaborative approach to ensure quality outcomes throughout the tendering and estimation process. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced estimator looking to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic and supportive team environment.

 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Attend site inspections and client meetings to gather project requirements
  • Prepare clear and detailed scope of works statements outlining inclusions and exclusions
  • Use estimating software to generate timely and accurate cost estimates
  • Manage and respond to queries and clarification requests throughout the tender process
  • Complete all required estimate detail, summary, and review documentation
  • Identify HSE requirements, labour, materials, equipment hire, and subcontractor costs
  • Prepare comprehensive sales-to-delivery handover documentation for awarded projects
  • Stay up to date with relevant legislation, codes of practice, guidelines, and industry standards
  • Liaise with suppliers and vendors to foster strong relationships and identify value opportunities

 

About You 

You are a skilled estimator with a strong background in Electrical and Communications systems, known for your technical knowledge, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple complex projects across different regions. You bring a proactive approach, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work that supports business growth.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience estimating across a wide range of electrical and communications projects
  • A solid technical foundation within the electrical and communications trade
  • A trade qualification in Electrical or a related field (highly regarded)
  • Strong proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and time management skills
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Capable of obtaining a Defence security clearance
