About The Opportunity  

A fantastic opportunity exists for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to join our NZ Facility Management team based in Auckland or Wellington. This newly created position is responsible for leading complex construction and engineering projects from inception through to delivery and handover while operating within a PMO framework. Working across a diverse range of projects within Education, Telco, and Local Government, you will ensure projects are delivered safely on time and within budget, whilst maintaining high quality and stakeholder satisfaction. 

This position will also play a key role in mentoring and developing the existing project management team. In addition, you will contribute to the strategic planning initiatives and drive continuous improvement across our project delivery practices and systems.

Nature of the position: Permanent, Full Time  

Location: Auckland/Wellington

Reporting Line: National Project Delivery Manager

 

Key Responsibilities  

  • Lead all phases of multiple construction projects: planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover 
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and quality, according to PMO standards 
  • Apply engineering principles to challenge design assumptions, ensure constructability, and resolve technical issues 
  • Maintain strong stakeholder relationships: clients, consultants, contractors, regulators 
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality, environmental, and statutory/regulatory requirements 
  • Prepare and present project reports to senior leadership; ensure transparency and accountability in governance 
  • Mentor and guide project teams; encourage best practices & continuous improvement 
  • Drive optimisation: cost control, resource allocation, schedule efficiency 

 
About You  

To succeed in this role, you will bring over 8 years of experience leading large-scale construction and engineering projects. Your proven leadership capabilities will enable you to manage and inspire the project management team effectively. In addition, you will demonstrate:

  • Qualification in Engineering – Electrical, Mechanical, Building Science, Construction preferred
  • PMP certification, or equivalent project management qualification is desirable
  • Proven record of delivering projects within a PMO or structured governance framework 
  • Excellent planning, scheduling, and financial management skills 
  • Proficient in risk management and change control 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on effective stakeholder engagement 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with teams and external stakeholders effectively
  • Experience with tools/software used in PMO / project scheduling/budget control (e.g. MS Project, Primavera, or similar)
