About The Opportunity
Programmed Building Projects are currently seeking a Project Estimator to join our close-knit team, working on a variety of refurbishment, fitout and small-scale capital works projects across multiple industry sectors including aged care, education, commercial and Strata.
In this permanent full-time position, you will be responsible for the preparation of accurate estimates, sourcing competitive and alternate suppliers, and working closely with project managers to maximize opportunities that are delivered by internal waged staff and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing accurate quantity takeoffs (BOQs) and full project estimates
- Scoping and measuring work onsite with project managers
- Developing scope of works and compiling subcontractor tender packages
- Using estimating software (Benchmark) to prepare quotations
- Liaising with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders
- Sourcing competitive pricing from alternate suppliers and trades
- Producing documentation that aligns with budget, timelines, and quality expectations
- Identifying risks and helping mitigate them with the team and clients
About You
- Experienced Project Estimator with a background in refurbishment/fitout space. Experience in residential space, aged care- independent living & nursing homes & commercial refurbishment/ fitout projects is a strong advantage
- Proficiency in estimation tools such as Benchmark or Estimate One is highly desirable
- Excellent understanding of local Australian construction costs (labour, materials, subtrades)
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills, with high attention to detail
- Effective communication skills – both written and verbal
- Ability to manage time and priorities across multiple projects
- Previous Hands-on construction experience (carpentry/building) highly regarded
- A current driver’s license and confidence in site visits
