About the Opportunity  

An exciting opportunity exists for a Cultural Liaison and Social Inclusion Officer to join our Programmed Facility Management team. In this rewarding role, you will help to lead the delivery of Aboriginal workforce and social inclusion initiatives under the client’s Aboriginal Housing Program.

You’ll also partner with the business to create, develop, and promote social inclusion programs that build on Programmed’s inclusive culture - fostering diversity, equity, and belonging across our workforce. By strengthening partnerships and championing initiatives, you’ll play a key role in making a positive social impact and helping individuals connect to long-term opportunities in training and employment.

You’ll bring passion, creativity, and strong relationship-building skills to support our people, customers, and communities in achieving shared goals. You will work closely with the Contract Manager, Project Supervisors, and local stakeholders to identify and support Aboriginal apprentices and trainees, facilitate community engagement, and embed social inclusion objectives into service delivery.

Nature of the position: 2 Year Fixed Term contract with potential for extension 

Location: Regional NSW – Brewarrina or Wentworth and surrounding areas 

 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Lead early and ongoing engagement with Tenants, Aboriginal communities, Elders, and local stakeholders.
  • Identify and support Aboriginal apprentices and employees, coordinating placements and mentoring.
  • Facilitate culturally safe recruitment, onboarding, and training processes.
  • Support reporting obligations including participation targets and community feedback.
  • Deliver cultural awareness training and support for staff and subcontractors.
  • Foster partnerships with Aboriginal businesses and service providers.
  • Ensure adherence to Programmed’s governance and Zero Harm principles.

 

About You

You will bring:

  • Aboriginality – Programmed considers Aboriginality a genuine occupational qualification for the role in accordance with the Anti-Discrimination Act (s.14(d))
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the issues impacting Aboriginal people and Communities today.
  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal communities or in social/community development roles.
  • A strong understanding of social inclusion and diversity principles
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, subcontractors, and external partners
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives
  • A genuine passion for supporting people from diverse backgrounds and creating positive change
  • Ability to obtain a Working with Vulnerable People check
