About the opportunity

As a CASUAL General Utility across WA, you’ll be supporting reputable mining and minerals organisations across the Midwest and Pilbara regions.

 

You’ll support delivery of essential on-site services including village management, catering, cleaning and utilities, helping create a safe, welcoming home away from home for remote workers.

Located remotely, this role goes beyond operations. It’s about building care, consistency and community on site and supporting our permanent Teams with relief coverage.

Key Responsibilities

The General Utility is adaptable and reliable, with experience supporting all facets of Village operations within a high-volume FIFO environment. Skilled across kitchen and dining service, accommodation and ablution cleaning, grounds maintenance, laundry operations, and consumables management, ensuring all facilities, stores, and resident areas are maintained to the highest standards. Experienced in daily inspections, reporting, food preparation support, equipment operation, and maintaining safe, clean, and compliant workspaces. Committed to teamwork and flexibility, with the ability to provide ad hoc support across multiple sites to meet operational demands.

Duties include:

  • Maintain Village grounds, stores, facilities, kitchens, accommodation rooms and ablutions to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation
  • Complete housekeeping of resident rooms including bed stripping/making, linen and towel replacement, ensuite cleaning and consumable restocking
  • Provide cleaning support across Mine Site offices, crib rooms, facilities and ablutions as required
  • Coordinate and perform laundry operations including receipt/dispatch of linen, sorting, folding, storage and replacement
  • Assist with green waste management and general grounds upkeep
  • Support kitchen operations including bulk food preparation, labelling, maintaining food hygiene standards (HACCP), dishwashing and equipment cleaning
  • Maintain kitchen premises and food production equipment in safe, clean working order
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of cleaning materials and consumables; assist with stocktakes and quality/temperature reporting
  • Use, handle and store chemicals safely in accordance with policies and safety requirements
  • Complete daily logs, work orders and reporting within allocated timeframes
  • Identify and report maintenance issues to Supervisors promptly
  • Achieve task completion targets and respond to ad hoc operational requests
  • Follow site policies, procedures and Australian WHS standards at all times
  • Provide cross-functional support to other departments and sites as required

 

About You

You will possess:

  • Australian Working Rights (minimum 6 months Visa holders)
  • VALID Australian C Class Driver’s License – International Licenses and Learners are NOT accepted
  • Ability to pass comprehensive (Client) Pre-Employment Medical including Instant Drug and Alcohol Screening
  • Current satisfactory National Police Check (within 6 months)
  • Food Safety or Handler Certification
  • Previous experience in a mass catering environment, including Minesite Village experience
  • Ability to endure remote environments in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to multi-task and assist across areas with a positive teamwork approach
  • The following experience / qualifications with First Aid and RSA (desirable)

Additionally, you will also possess the following skills:

  • Basic Systems and Technology experience i.e., MS Office, online/web-based Payroll & Training requirements
  • Ability to work in a Team; be a self-motivator and take instructions
  • Ability to prioritise and adapt to changing work tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate a professional approach in the workplace, with excellent customer service skills
  • Have a strong commitment to the safety of yourself and others
