Play a crucial role in the Country Road Group transformation, delivering an ambitious strategic supply chain agenda designed to support the Country Road Group Strategy.

We have a 12-month fixed term contract opportunity for an International Shipping Specialist, reporting into the Head of Logistics to oversee the end-to-end process of international shipments, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of goods. You will be responsible for container loading plans, carrier coordination, shipment tracking and reporting, and managing shipping documentation. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of international logistics, freight cost structures, and customs regulations. You will ensure a consistent and efficient flow of stock from origin to the Order Fulfilment Centre (Distribution Centre) and our New Zealand cross dock operation. We are looking for a Logistics and Shipping professional with an analytical mindset, who is solution oriented and has a desire to deliver strategic initiatives.

Based in Burnley, with a hybrid mix of time in the office and from home, this role will suit an individual with freight forwarding and customer service operations experience who enjoys working in a fast paced and complex retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute international shipments (ocean, LCL/FCL)
  • Develop and optimize container loading plans for efficient space utilisation
  • Prepare and manage all required shipping and customs documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, BOLs, etc.)
  • Track shipments from origin to destination, proactively resolving delays or issues
  • Work closely with freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, and internal departments
  • Analyse and report on shipping performance, delays, and cost metrics
  • Evaluate and negotiate shipping rates with carriers and logistics partners
  • Maintain compliance with international trade laws and company standards
  • Embrace uncertainty and change while facilitating and enabling strategic change with clarity, empathy and optimism.
  • Create & foster an inclusive environment where all team members can thrive and feel included, respected and safe. Set clear expectations of behaviour and hold self and others accountable

Key Capabilities

  • Experience in international shipping or global logistics
  • Solid understanding of container loading, international freight modes (air/ocean), import permit requirements, and customs documentation
  • Experience with shipment tracking systems and reporting tools
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with shipping cost analysis and budgeting
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Proficient with in Advanced Excel, Power BI and SQL queries
  • Confidence to engage, partner and influence a variety of diverse stakeholder groups
