Responsible Sourcing Manager - Country Road Group

The Responsible Sourcing Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the ethical, sustainable, and transparent sourcing of products and materials across our fashion retail supply chain. This role will lead initiatives to uphold human rights, promote fair labour practices, improve environmental outcomes, and enhance supply chain traceability from raw materials to finished goods.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement responsible sourcing strategies in alignment with company values, sustainability goals, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct due diligence and risk assessments on suppliers and regions; monitor compliance with the company’s Code of Conduct, labour standards, and international human rights guidelines.
- Lead efforts to map and monitor supply chains to improve traceability of raw materials, particularly for high-risk commodities (e.g., cotton, leather, wool).
- Implement digital traceability tools and collaborate with third-party platforms or certifications to verify and report supply chain data
- Manage social and environmental audits across the supplier base; analyse results and lead corrective action planning where needed.
- Coordinate with third-party auditors, NGOs, and industry bodies to stay ahead of compliance trends and regulatory changes (e.g., EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive).
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant laws, such as the Australian Modern Slavery Act and UFLPA.
- Prepare regular reports and dashboards on ethical sourcing KPIs and traceability progress for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the company’s sustainability reporting, including ESG disclosures, certifications, and impact assessments.
Key Capabilities
- Extensive experience in responsible sourcing, sustainability, or ethical trade within the fashion or retail sector.
- Strong knowledge of social compliance standards and labour rights (e.g., SA8000, SMETA, WRAP, ILO conventions).
- Experience managing social and environmental audits and corrective action plans.
- Familiarity with local and international regulations and frameworks (e.g. Modern Slavery Acts, UFLPA, EU CSDDD).
- Experience with supply chain traceability tools (e.g., TrusTrace, TextileGenesis, Sourcemap) and sustainability certifications (e.g., GOTS, FSC, Leather Working Group).
- Knowledge of traceability and chain-of-custody certification schemes (e.g., GOTS, FSC, Leather Working Group).
- Understanding of sustainable materials and responsible sourcing standards (e.g., RWS, GRS, Oeko-Tex).
- Experience with assessing raw material origin risks and engaging suppliers on sustainable alternatives.
- Experience producing internal reports and external disclosures related to responsible sourcing.
- Ability to gather, analyse, and interpret sourcing and compliance data.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with suppliers, internal teams (design, sourcing, logistics), and external partners (NGOs, auditors, platforms).
- Analytical mindset to assess sourcing risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
