CPB Contractors is part of the ACS Group, the world’s leading data centre builder, with more than 9GW delivered globally across the US, Europe and Asia Pacific.

Together with our global peers, Leighton Asia and Turner, we deliver mission critical facilities for major technology clients, supporting the infrastructure backbone of the AI economy.

Your opportunity

We're looking for a Data Centre Design Manager - CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) to join the team delivering a major data centre project that will support Australia's growing digital infrastructure.

This is a role for someone who enjoys solving problems, building strong relationships and keeping things moving in a complex project environment where design decisions directly influence delivery outcomes.

Key responsibilities

This role is all about connecting the dots between design and delivery.

You'll work closely with consultants, subcontractors and delivery teams to coordinate the CSA design, manage design risks and changes, resolve technical issues and ensure information is available when it's needed. You'll help identify and address clashes, constructability challenges and programme risks early, while building strong relationships that keep teams aligned and work moving forward. You'll also provide leadership and support to Design Coordinators and Design Engineers, helping drive both project and team success.

You'll :

  • Lead the coordination of CSA design activities, ensuring consultants, subcontractors and delivery teams remain aligned throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Drive design reviews, challenge assumptions and help resolve issues before they impact cost, programme or construction.
  • Work closely with site teams to ensure designs are practical, buildable and support efficient delivery.
  • Build strong relationships across clients, consultants and key stakeholders, creating a collaborative environment where decisions are made and progress is maintained.

What you'll bring

You'll have experience coordinating design on large construction projects and understand the importance of balancing programme, buildability, quality and stakeholder expectations.

Just as importantly, you'll be someone who can bring people together, work through challenges and build strong working relationships across the project.

You'll also bring:

  • Experience delivering data centres, mission-critical facilities or other highly complex projects will be highly regarded.
  • Experience leading or coordinating design on large construction projects where there are plenty of moving parts and competing priorities.
  • A solid understanding of CSA design and a practical appreciation of what works on site.
  • The ability to bring people together, work through challenges and keep decisions moving.
  • Experience working closely with consultants, subcontractors and project delivery teams.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to build trusted relationships across a project team.
  • A proactive approach, good judgement and the ability to stay calm when things get complicated.
  • Relevant qualifications or equivalent industry experience.

More than anything, we're looking for someone who knows how to get people around the table, work through challenges and keep momentum where it matters. Someone who takes ownership, follows things through and genuinely enjoys being part of a team delivering something significant.

We particularly welcome and encourage applications from Indigenous Peoples, women, the LGBTQIA+ community, mature workers, Veterans and Active Defence Reserve members, people with disabilities and people from different cultural backgrounds. CPB Contractors is proud to hold the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) Citation - Employer of Choice for Gender Equality.

We’re always looking for ways to make CPB Contractors a more rewarding place to work and offer a unique set of benefits, including:

  • A rewarding career where we support your development, training and promote from within.
  • Opportunities across all construction sectors so that there is always an opportunity suitable for the next stage in your career.
  • Competitive remuneration and excellent benefits including a health and wellbeing program, discount portal and company-funded salary continuance insurance.
  • Flexible work arrangements and a culture that values diversity and innovation.

Please note: This role is being sourced through CPB Contractors directly and we will not accept applications via external recruitment agencies.
