The Project

CPB is working on a large infrastructure project as part of building Queensland’s future. We are currently seeking an experienced Project Lawyer to join our project delivery team on a project based in Brisbane.

Your Opportunity

As a Project Lawyer, you will provide legal and contractual advice to the project team, supporting the successful delivery of current and future major infrastructure projects. You will work closely with project leadership and commercial teams to identify and manage legal and contractual risks, provide commercially focused advice, and support the negotiation and administration of key project arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide independent front-end and back-end construction, commercial and contractual advice throughout the project lifecycle.
• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial and contractual arrangements, including head contract notices, claims, correspondence, downstream subcontracts, supply agreements, leases, licences, confidentiality agreements, bonds and guarantees.
• Identify key legal, contractual and project risks, providing practical and commercially focused solutions to mitigate and manage those risks.
• Manage relationships with and provide clear instructions to external legal advisers, ensuring matters are progressed efficiently and effectively.
• Provide guidance and training to project personnel on contractual obligations, legal requirements and risk management, while supporting the implementation of corporate policies, procedures and internal approval processes.

Our minimum requirements for this role are:

• 5+ years' post-qualification experience, gained within a strong construction and projects-focused practice.
• Demonstrated experience supporting the delivery of major infrastructure, construction or integrated commercial projects, with exposure to relevant construction contracts and commercial frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of construction law, PPPs, major infrastructure delivery and relevant governance and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent legal drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal and contractual matters clearly and provide practical, commercially focused advice.
