For over twenty years CPB has been a partner to Defence delivering major capital works projects across Australia.  Responding to the growth in Defence’s capital works pipeline, CPB is committed to grow its market share of Defence work in Western Australia, South Australia, and the Northern Territory.

Your Opportunity

CPB is seeking an experienced specialist Project Director to join our Western Australian business to lead the planning and delivery of major capital works projects for Defence. The role will include providing support to business development and tendering. The primary responsibility of the Project Director will be the leadership of multi-disciplinary teams to deliver profitable projects to time, cost, quality and compliance under the Defence suite of contracts. The role will be based in Perth with travel to project sites as required.

As a Project Director, you will:

  • Be a member of the leadership group driving the development of Defence business opportunities
  • Develop strategic relationships with our client, partners, internal and external stakeholders
  • Be a key member of tender teams providing input on strategy, resources and program
  • Within the project enviroment:
    • lead and direct project teams in all aspects of the planning and delivery of Defence projects
    • be the lead point of contact for the Contract Administrator, Defence and stakeholders, maintaining high levels of communication and collaboration with all parties
    • ensure all contractual obligations are met including development and execution of project plans
    • oversee planning, procurement and governance in accordance with both corporate and Defence requirements
    • oversee design development and reporting, working with the Design Director, managers and consultants to ensure  time and quality expectations are met
    • direct the efficient and safe delivery of projects

 Our minimum requirements for this role are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or equivalent
  • Proven experience in leading teams in the planning and delivery of major projects.
  • Experience in the interpretation and application of the Defence suite of contracts.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of safety and environmental legislation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Eligible for a Defence security clearance
