About the role

An opportunity for a Payroll Officer has become available within CPB Contractors Group Human Resources division to commence work immediately. Reporting to the Senior Payroll Officer, this is a permanent full-time position based in our North Sydney head office.

This position is required to administer and maintain the CPB payroll ensuring the function operates in a timely and appropriate manner. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficient payroll processing and superannuation payments
  • Reconciliation of G/L Accounts
  • Producing reports on a timely basis
  • Coordination of activities across the payroll function to ensure consistency with CPB Group
  • Ensure payroll function is operating on a timely, efficient basis through planning and scheduling of tasks to ensure CPB and external deadlines are met
  • Coordinate process improvements within own area to ensure duplications are minimised and demands on systems and / or resources is reduced contributing to the sharing of knowledge and information within the payroll team and with internal clients

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role the candidate will have the following skills, experience and demonstrate the below competencies:

  • 2- 3 years with high volume experience processing large Salary/ Wages pay runs in a team environment
  • An understanding of relevant legislation
  • Employment Agreement and Modern Awards Interpretation
  • Strong work ethic
  • Proficient organisational and time management skills
  • Willingness to learn with a high attention to details new systems/ processes
  • Strong time management and communication skills

Desirable but not necessary provided you can meet the key requirements above:

  • Experience in the Construction industry
  • Exposure to Oracle &/or Preceda
  • Experience with an outsourced payroll function
  • Diploma in Accounting
  • Payroll Certificate
