Project Engineer - CopperString 2032

UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink’s delivery of CopperString 2032. This $5 billion iconic project will initially be approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission line running from just south of Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland’s North West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid. The project scope includes:

  • 500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden
  • 330kV transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry
  • 220kV transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount Isa
  • Up to six new substation sites.

This exciting project will commence construction in 2024 and we are currently looking for experienced Project Engineers to join the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpreting, planning, coordinating and administering construction engineering activities in line with the project documentation.
  • Assisting the Senior Project Engineer in preparing accurate monthly reports.
  • Demonstrate financial management skills and commercial acumen when making decisions.
  • Active management and liaising with site-based personnel, subcontractors and stakeholders.
  • Developing and monitoring KPI and productivity analysis against program and budget 

Requirements for this role:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or other relevant discipline.
  • Previous experience as a Project Engineer working on large scale projects.
  • Previous experience in linear projects, bulk earthworks. 
  • Proven experience in forecasting and budget management, end-of-month process and cost tracking skills
  • Must be available for travel – FIFO options available from Brisbane.
