The Project
CPB Contractors along with our industry partners has been selected to deliver two major packages for the Cross River Rail Projects: the Tunnel, Stations and Development (TSD) package and the Rail, Integration and Systems (RIS) package. Cross River Rail is a new 10.2 kilometre rail line from Dutton Park to Bowen Hills, which includes 5.9 kilometres of tunnel under the Brisbane River and the CBD.
The RIS package is crucial to the overall delivery and success of Cross River Rail, and its integration with the Queensland Rail network. RIS will be delivered by the UNITY Alliance which brings CPB Contractors, UGL, AECOM and Jacobs together with partners HASSEL, RCS Australia, Acemna, Martinus Rail and WIRED Overhead Solutions to deliver the full scope of works over the next five years. This includes:
- Rail civil and electrical works
- Brownfield rail surface works primarily to the north of the tunnel, including an upgrade of Exhibition Station and a major augmentation of Mayne Yard
- Upgrade of six suburban stations to the south
- Rail operational systems works
- Rail signalling works and communication, and integration and commission activities.
Your Opportunity
Reporting to the Commercial Director we are currently seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to deliver the best possible financial outcome on the Alliance.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing the commercial team (Procurement, Contract Administration and Finance)
- Preparation of tender packages, Requests for Quotation, tender evaluations and Recommendations for Approval
- Negotiation and preparation of contracts for award
- Evaluation of variation claims and issuing assessments for review and approval by management
- Preparation of month end financial reports
- Project Alliance Agreement contract management, compliance, notices, adjustment events, progress claims
- Management of subcontractor payment claims
- Preparation and issuance of contract correspondence to Contractors
- Conduct risk and opportunity assessments for project wide management reporting
- Management of earned value analysis of various work packages
- Implementing effective cost control processes and practices
- Management of contract disputes
- Managing compliance and preparing reports on commercial performance of the project
Our minimum requirements for this role are:
- Experience in team management, and working within a large on-site construction team
- At least 15 years relevant industry experience
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to work to tight deadlines
- Experience in the procurement and management of subcontract packages for large-scale projects
- Experience in cost planning and forecast planning
- Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Effective contract negotiation skills and ability to assess and resolve large complex claims and variations through to completion
- Understanding of relevant legislation and ability to interpret and apply contracts
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or proven commercial experience
- Demonstrated experience in effectively managing large subcontract packages.
