The Project
UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink’s delivery of CopperString 2032. This $5 billion iconic project will initially be approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission line running from just south of Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland’s North West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid. The project scope includes:
- 500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden
- 330kV transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry
- 220kV transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount Isa
- up to six new substation sites.
This exciting project has commenced, and we are currently looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer experience to join the team. The role will be based in Brisbane and transition to site on a 10/4 roster.
Working with guidance from the Project Manager, the Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the production of design deliverables through the lifecycle of the project.
What will a day in this role look like:
- Review design and construction plans, schedules and method statements to ensure constructability.
- Monitor project progress against the programme and budget.
- Effectively assign task to project team members to deliver the requirement outputs to agreed specifications.
- Prepare accurate project reports.
- Provides written reports on engineering activities as required by the Project Manager
What are we looking for you to bring to the team:
- A recognised degree in Civil Engineering, or other relevant discipline.
- Previous experience as Senior Project Engineer level managing major multi-disciplinary trade packages on large scale building or infrastructure projects.
- Leadership ability to provide mentorship to direct reports.
- Demonstrated commercial experience to include planning and reporting on progress, cost and risk.
- Demonstrated personal commitment to health and safety.
- Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
- FIFO from Brisbane will be required on a 10:4 roster
