The Project
The CPB Contractors, Ghella & UGL joint venture has been successful in securing the contract to deliver the $3.1bn M6 Stage 1 project. The project will deliver the missing link from Sydney’s south to the wider Sydney motorway network making journeys easier, faster and safer. It will remove more than 2,000 trucks a day from surface roads and help return local streets to local communities.
With works commenced in early 2022, the M6 Stage 1 project scope includes the construction of twin four-kilometre tunnels and associated works, linking the M8 Motorway at Arncliffe to President Avenue at Kogarah.
The Opportunity
The M6 Stage 1 project is seeking an experienced Testing & Commissioning (T&C) Supervisor to join their Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) team. Reporting to the Commissioning Superintendent, this role is primarily leading site productivity and controlling site testing and commissioning operations for compliance with the commissioning and energisation procedure and the testing & commissioning program.
Key Accountabilities
- Plan and lead commissioning operations under the Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) program
- Ensure area compliance with the Commissioning Zone, Energisation, Permit and Isolation Procedure
- Identify hazards, assess risks, complete on-site risk assessments and implement identified risk control measures when necessary. Develop risk assessments for electrical work.
- Mentor direct reports and develop a “One Team” culture so that teams integrate effectively with wider project teams and stakeholders
- Ensure subcontractors have adequate supervision and resources to plan and complete work on time
- Lead and participate in scheduled site safety walks and address any items to rectify issues or improve site safety
- Assist in developing and monitoring programs and forecasts.
- Proactively mitigate risks to achieving tasks on the critical path.
About You
- Holder of an NSW Electrical licence
- Holder of an NSW Driver’s license
- Demonstrated experience working on major infrastructure construction projects
- Experience working in underground environments
- Extensive experience in testing & commissioning electrical networks and systems including high voltage, low voltage, communications and control systems
- Experience complying with and promoting a positive safety culture
- Sound knowledge and experience using computer programs such as MS Excel and Word
- Strong problem-solving and conflict management skills
The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
