About North East Link
The Spark Consortium has been selected for the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project.
The Spark Consortium’s Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.
The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads.
About the Opportunity
To support the delivery of the North East Link project, we are looking for a Project Engineer with Civils and Tunnelling experience to join our TBM team.
These roles will be based in Watsonia and will support the delivery of construction engineering outcomes covering backend works drainage, Pre-Cast Culvert, backfill and concrete in the Tunnel. Additional works will include Slipform Barriers, Asphalt and Concrete Road construction and Architectural Panels. This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of an iconic project based in Melbourne, Victoria.
This role will be accountable for:
- Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs and specifications
- Write, review and present construction methods to relevant stakeholders that are in line with project requirements
- Develop construction methods and engineering concepts to safely and cost effectively deliver packages of work
- Monitor construction progress for adherence to programme and report to the Site Manger or Project Manager Interpret designs for implementation in construction projects
- Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes
- Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes
Our minimum requirements for these roles are:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Experience in Civil or Tunnel Operations is required
- High level verbal and written communication skills
- Proven experience in successfully delivering large work packages
- Proven experience in managing site engineers on large-scale civil construction projects
- Ideally, previous experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Contractor on a construction project
- Ability to effectively manage budgets, systems and stakeholders to achieve an exceptional outcome
- Excellent attitude and awareness of Safety
- Self-motivation and drive to achieve value-for-money results
Please be advised that this project is a large scale T1 project with potential for 24/7 shift work, whilst we will aim for weekend work to be split fairly between employees there may be role requirements on occasion for evening shift work.
