The Project

CPB Contractors along with our industry partners are currently delivering the Rail, Integration and Systems (RIS) package, part of the Cross River Rail Project. Cross River Rail is a new 10.2 kilometre rail line from Dutton Park to Bowen Hills, which includes 5.9 kilometres of tunnel under the Brisbane River and the CBD.

The RIS package is crucial to the overall delivery and success of Cross River Rail, and its integration with the Queensland Rail network.  RIS will be delivered by the UNITY Alliance which brings CPB Contractors, UGL, AECOM, Jacobs, Queensland Rail and the CRR Delivery Authority together with partners HASSEL, RCS Australia, Acmena, Martinus Rail and WIRED Overhead Solutions to deliver the full scope of works over the next three years. This includes:

  • Rail, civil and electrical works.
  • Brownfield rail surface works primarily to the north of the tunnel, including an upgrade of Exhibition Station and a major augmentation of Mayne Yard.
  • Major new works to Clapham Yard.
  • Upgrade of suburban stations to the south.
  • Rail operational systems works.
  • Rail signalling works and communications, integration and commissioning activities.

 

 

Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Superintendent, CPB Contractors are currently seeking a Supervisor with rail experience join our team.

This role would suit a Supervisor with experience in the following in a areas inside a brownfield Rail environment:

  • Detailed Rail corridor Civil works
  • Drainage installation, including under track crossings
  • Pavement/Rail formation construction
  • Minor structures works, including FRP of drainage pits, footpaths etc.

An experienced Leading Hand with the right attitude/drive and experience in the above areas may also be considered.

Key responsibilities

The key focus of this role is to achieve optimum production, cost and quality outcomes through the effective management of direct labour and sub-contractors in a healthy and safe work environment. You will be responsible for:

  • Effectively coordinating and supervising the utilisation of all on-site resources for the project
  • Ensuring all workers are inducted onto site before commencing work
  • Monitoring civil progress and compliance to safety and environmental standards
  • Ensure all operations are performed in accordance with agreed safe methods of work
  • Forward planning daily/weekly/monthly construction work including resource requirements and trade coordination
  • Ensuring subcontracts act safety and comply with safety requirements

Our minimum requirements for this role are:

  • Qualification in a related field
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the Civil Construction and Rail industry, including Rail formation
  • Proven management experience of subcontractors, suppliers and labour
  • Well-developed planning, leadership & communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully and autonomously within a fast paced project environment and deliver on deadlines
  • Hold proven verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with an ability to develop and maintain relationships across diverse stakeholders
  • Focus and commitment to a zero harm environment
