The Project

The CPB Contractors, Ghella & UGL joint venture has been successful in securing the contract to deliver the $3.1bn M6 Stage 1 project.  The project will deliver the missing link from Sydney’s south to the wider Sydney motorway network making journeys easier, faster and safer. It will remove more than 2,000 trucks a day from surface roads and help return local streets to local communities. 

With works commenced in early 2022, the M6 Stage 1 project scope includes the construction of twin four-kilometre tunnels and associated works, linking the M8 Motorway at Arncliffe to President Avenue at Kogarah. 

 

The Opportunity

The M6 Stage 1 Project has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to develop, implement, audit and improve the CGU quality management system for the Tunnel scope of works.

Some of your responsibilities will include;

  • Maintain, monitor compliance and seek improvement of the Project Management System and systems for data, document and record management
  • Assist the Quality manager with implementation of the Project Quality Management Plan and assist in development of other project management plans
  • Assist the Quality manager to deliver the Quality 101 induction training to site personnel
  • Monitor Nonconformance reporting process for trends and be involved in investigation of significant NCR
  • Identify, assess and control risks to project quality of product and reject non-conforming materials or products
  • Ensure appropriate Quality requirements are included in project delivery documentation including subcontractor and supplier packages
  • Review and close out work lot documentation and ensure compliance to the project specifications and standards
  • Perform regular process control audits (PCVs) to ensure compliance and suggest improvements to the process.
  • Assist the Quality Manager with development and implementation of project audit schedule and the auditing of subcontractors and suppliers
  • Assist project personnel with training in the project electronic document management systems, project management system and other applicable quality systems
  • Prepare regular project reports showing progress to achieving project Quality objectives including identification of quality performance trends
  • Assist the construction team to develop the Inspection and test plan
  • Review subcontractors Inspection & Test Plans prior to submission to IC
  • Verify and close Punch List and Defect List items
  • Ensuring monitoring and test equipment is calibrated and stored in Teambinder

 

About You

To be successful in the role you will have;

  • A University degree in Engineering or Science
  • An experienced engineer with at least five years in construction and three years in Quality control of infrastructure Projects.
  • Detailed understanding of relevant Australian and International standards, both technical and those related to management systems
  • Understanding of and experience working with TfNSW specifications
  • High level communication, consultation, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Shotcrete Experience is desirable
  • Lead Auditor certification is desirable
  • Solid relationship building skills
  • High level writing skills

 

The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
