About North East Link  

The Spark Consortium has been selected to deliver the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project. 

The Spark Consortium’s Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project. 

The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads. 

About the Opportunity

We are currently seeking skilled and experienced Senior Project Engineer with a strong background in CRCP to join our dynamic TBM team on the Spark North East Link Project.

Your primary responsibilities will include the coordination of on-site engineering functions including management of Site Engineers and Project Engineers and for the CRCP components of the project, with a multi-million dollar portfolio of work. You will be responsible for managing the CRCP sections of the project and a team to achieve time and budget objectives and provide efficient support for construction activities.

This is a senior opportunity, and we are looking for passionate people to help manage a team of engineers and successfully deliver Melbourne’s largest project to date.

This role will be accountable for:

  • Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, check work drawings, construction and specifications against site plans and conditions and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary
  • All coordination of 6.5km if dual carriageway CRCP works on the project
  • Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards of supplier, subcontractor quotations/purchase orders as well as subcontractor arrangements
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and planning authorities to ensure satisfactory completion of structures and construction work
  • Coordinate the activities of an engineering team, programme workloads and provide technical and administrative guidance to the engineering staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved
  • Ensure that project engineering completion is on time and within budget. Record completed work, costs incurred, materials used and retain progress drawings

Minimum requirements for this role are:

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Project Engineer and operational experience is desirable with a minimum of 10 years in Construction
  • Understanding of the Quality Management Plan, Safety Management Plan, Specuifcally TfNSW Q6 and Project Quality Plan (PQP) development and implementation.
  • Experience in delivery high quality outcomes in construction of PCP and/or CRCP pavement using TfNSW R82/R83 Pavement Base or equivalent TMR CRC Pavement Base Specifications
  • Experience in TfNSW R93 Pavement Grinding
  • Effective time management skills
  • Proven experience cost planning and forecasting
  • Experience in managing Site Engineers and Project Engineers
