About North East Link
The Spark Consortium has been selected to deliver the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project.
The Spark Consortium’s Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.
The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads.
About the Opportunity
As the Project Manager Buildings- South you will be responsible for leading the successful delivery of the Motor Control Centre (MCC) and South Vent buildings. As the PM you will be the driving force to lead the South Buildings scope on the project. Experience working with a Tier 1 Commercial Builder will be fundamental in your success for this role.
This role will be accountable for:
- Project Manage the construction, commissioning, completion and occupancy of the Motor Control Centre (MCC) Building ~$70m Build value. A single builder has been engaged for a two-stage delivery
- Project Manage the construction, commissioning and completion of the Southern Vent Building ~80m build value. Individual trade packages have been engaged
- Oversea the Building Permit and regulatory compliance processes for buildings
- Ensure Building practices comply with building permit conditions
- Manage and priorities building permits across the project
- Ensure design development aligns with construction deliverables
- Provide strong safety leadership through all stages of construction of the works
- Assign resources to deliver the works within budget, time, quality and regulatory standards
- Manage interface with critical stakeholders and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Manage the execution of engineering, procurement and construction activities and adopt appropriate construction methods for the project/program
This role reports directly to the project Construction Director South
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Civil Engineering and/or Construction Management. Qualifications must be recognised in Australia
Minimum requirements for this role are:
- 15 years + years’ experience in the tier 1 commercial building sector or infrastructure building sector, with a minimum 5 years as project manager
- In depth understanding of the Victorian Building permit process
- Extensive understanding of design management on infrastructure Projects
- Proven experience with complex multi discipline Civil / Building Sites
- Proven ability to problem-solve in a team environment
- Acute understanding of Contracts and Contract Management
- Ability to develop and mentor staff
- Ability to create and lead a team of 40 plus staff
- Recognised degree in Engineering/Construction Management
- Proven experience in leading teams through the delivery of large-scale Buildings in major civil/commercial construction projects
- Proven Project management capability in civil and structures infrastructure/commercial projects environment
- Advanced financial and commercial management including cost reduction and meeting budgets
- Knowledge of Contractual, legal, commercial, industrial relations and legislative compliance management
- Quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment knowledge
