About North East Link
The Spark Consortium has been selected for the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project.
The Spark Consortium’s Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.
The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads.
Please be advised that this project is a large scale T1 project with potential for 24/7 shift work, whilst we will aim for weekend work to be split fairly between employees there may be role requirements on occasion for evening shift work.
About the Opportunity
The Project Engineer – Building Services will assist in coordinating building services subcontractors to ensure compliance with design specifications, effective trade integration, cost and schedule control, and successful system commissioning. You’ll work closely with the Fitout and Buildings teams to support the efficient delivery of high-quality building projects.
Position Specific Responsibilities include:
- Support coordination between all building services trades
- Ensure compliance with project specifications and drawings
- Assist in resolving interface issues between trades
- Identify and monitor long lead items and scheduling requirements
- Provide input into cost forecasting for services trades
- Assist Fitout teams with planning and programming of works
- Support on-site problem solving as required
- Attend design and coordination meetings as directed by the Project or Senior Engineer
- Liaise with contract administration to assist in tender evaluations and scope reviews
- Contribute to construction sequencing to minimise trade conflicts
- Prepare documentation for energising/de-energising of services as required
- Support the management of temporary services to ensure safe working conditions
- Assist with commissioning of systems in collaboration with project-wide commissioning teams
Minimum requirements for this role:
- 2–5 years’ experience in a relevant discipline (Electrical or Mechanical)
- Degree or Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline, or
- Trade background with experience in building services coordination
- Understanding of Quality, Safety, Environmental and Project Design Management Plans
- Knowledge of safety, environmental, and quality risk management principles
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively within a project team and manage competing priorities
