About North East Link
The Spark Consortium has been selected to deliver the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project.
The Spark Consortium’s Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.
The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads.
About the Opportunity:
As part of the landmark infrastructure initiative, the Spark Consortium is seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers for the delivery of our ME&I function.

The purpose of the role is to hold responsibility for overseeing the mechanical aspects of the project, ensuring systems are designed, implemented, and maintained to meet high standards of quality and safety. Working with the Project Manager to coordinate teams, ensure compliance with standards, and support engineering designs. The Engineering function also helps to manage subcontract packages and promotes digital delivery practices, using their experience to optimize project performance and achieve goals.
Working alongside a talented team of engineers and project managers, you will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical aspects of the project, ensuring that all systems are designed, implemented and maintained to the highest standards of quality and safety. Including the HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, throughout all phases of the project. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and a commitment to upholding safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. (Masters preferred for SPE)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable
- Proven delivery experience on large scale infrastructure project(>$50M) in construction
- Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks and manage deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards and regulations.
