What can our construction projects build for you?

CPB Contractors along with our industry partners has been selected as preferred proponent to deliver two major packages for the Cross River Rail Projects: the Tunnel, Stations and Development (TSD) package and the Rail, Integration and Systems (RIS) package. Cross River Rail is a new 10.2-kilometre rail line from Dutton Park to Bowen Hills, which includes 5.9 kilometres of tunnel under the Brisbane River and the CBD.

The RIS package is crucial to the overall delivery and success of Cross River Rail, and its integration with the Queensland Rail network.  RIS will be delivered by the UNITY Alliance which brings CPB Contractors, UGL, AECOM and Jacobs together with partners HASSEL, RCS Australia, Acmena, Martinus Rail and WIRED Overhead Solutions to deliver the full scope of works over the next five years. This includes:

  • Rail civil and electrical works
  • Brownfield rail surface works primarily to the north of the tunnel, including an upgrade of Exhibition Station and a major augmentation of Mayne Yard
  • Upgrade of seven suburban stations to the south
  • Rail operational systems works
  • Rail signalling works and communication, and integration and commission activities.

Your opportunity

Reporting into the Finance Manager, this role will sit in the project finance team with access to a broad range of finance and operational systems and staff. This role will analyse data from the projects ERP, BI and operational systems and develop meaningful insights for stakeholders across all levels.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Review of forecasting model to ensure that the UNITY forecast is consolidated in a robust platform, minimising calculation and data errors
  • Engage with stakeholders to improve their cost reporting and forecasting
  • Assist in preparing papers for review and approval by the Alliance Leadership Team
    • Papers are to set out details of spend, forecast and reasons for the project claiming the costs against the Project Owner
  • Assist in month end activities, primarily assisting with cost reviews to identify and correct any costs that are not reimbursable
  • Support the Finance Manager with ad-hoc reporting requests

Our minimum requirements for this role are:

  • Degree qualified in Commerce / Business majoring in Accounting and/or Finance
  • CA / CPA qualification desirable but not mandatory
  • Minimum 2 years working in an FP&A / Business Partnering role or similar
  • Experience working in a large Construction / Engineering / Infrastructure / Property business
  • Systems experience especially with BI platforms. Recent hands-on experience with BI/JDE an advantage but not mandatory
  • Advanced Excel and (user friendly) modelling skills
  • Ability to structure complex data from a variety of sources to develop insights for executive level management
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and automation not just in a Finance environment but at an operations / project level
  • Natural ability to business partner with non-finance teams and build strong relationships
  • Analytical and inquisitive nature and a desire to always challenge the norm
  • Commercially savvy with business acumen
  • Flexible and adaptable to a fast paced and changing environment
  • Ability to work autonomously and is self-motivated
  • Strong sense of ethics and values
  • Experience working hands-on in a project environment desirable but not mandatory
  • Experience with preparing (or assisting with) budgets / forecasts for large businesses desirable but not mandatory
  • Experience working in Big 4 / mid-tier accounting firms desirable but not mandatory
