Your opportunity

As part of TasWater’s commitment to investing in new and improved sewerage infrastructure to cater for Hobart’s future growth, we are delivering one of our most significant projects to date. This transformative project, we will be building a new 4.3-kilometre pipeline to connect the new pump station at Macquarie Point and the future Selfs Point Sewage Treatment Plant at New Town Bay.

Reporting to the Project Director, the Project Manager will lead the Macquarie Point project team and be accountable for:

  • Managing safety and environmental performance, construction management, stakeholder engagement & financial performance
  • Construction and commissioning of a key wastewater infrastructure (sewerage pumpstation and rising main) in Hobart.
  • Management of high-risk projects throughout the entire project life-cycle to meet project objectives, from assistance with preparation of business case through project start, design, procurement, manufacturing, erection and installation on site, commissioning, acceptance testing, handover and defects liability period.
  • Negotiate commercial outcomes with contractors, consultants, land owners and regulators
  • Ensure appropriate change and quality control throughout the project

Our minimum requirements for this role are:

  • Formal tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management or equivalent relevant competency
  • Demonstrated extensive experience with civil, electrical or mechanical assets, preferably in the water or other service utility industries
  • Knowledge of project management principles and demonstrated extensive experience overseeing works projects in infrastructure businesses
  • Demonstrated understanding of contract management principles and framework with proven working experience
  • Current ‘C Class’ driver’s licence
  • Extensive experience in the management of asset construction and replacement contracts
  • Membership of relevant professional association

This role is locally based and for those outside of Tasmania, relocation is required. An attractive relocation package that includes removalist cost and an LAFHA (for eligible individuals) will be made available to the successful applicant.
