The Project

CPB Contractors continues to execute gas gathering and infrastructure works for Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) in the Surat Basin, Queensland with the project continuing to deliver coal seam gas gathering infrastructure.

CPB Contractors has delivered gas gathering infrastructure for more than 800 wells for APLNG over the past five years. Works include infrastructure for access tracks and well site lease pad preparation, gas and water pipeline gathering networks, electrical supply networks and rehabilitation of right of ways after installations are complete.

CPB Contractors’ work with local subcontractors and suppliers continues to make an important contribution to employment, business opportunities and community benefits for the people of Roma, Miles, Chinchilla and Dalby.

Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Project Manager will lead the APLNG project team and be accountable for:

  • Managing safety and environmental performance, construction management, stakeholder engagement & financial performance
  • Management of high-risk projects throughout the entire project lifecycle to meet project objectives, from assistance with preparation of business case through project start, design, procurement, manufacturing, erection and installation on site, commissioning, acceptance testing, handover and defects liability period.
  • Ensure appropriate change and quality control throughout the project
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and project personnel, cultivating an inclusive, high-performance culture built on collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for project stakeholders, managing communication with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities to build strong, cooperative relationships.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring effective risk management plans are developed and implemented throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee project financial performance, including cost estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and managing expenditures to support delivery within approved budgets.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of project activities, decisions, and lessons learned, and provide clear, accurate reporting on project progress, risks, and performance metrics.
  • Lead project close-out activities, including system testing, commissioning, and preparation of handover documentation to support operational readiness and client satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experienced Project Manager ($200m pa)
  • + 5yrs in Gas Gathering infrastructure construction or pipeline construction 
  • Demonstrated experience working with Tier 1 Oil and Gas operators as Principal Contractor
  • Expertise in civil construction along with HDPE pipeline construction
  • Construction in brownfield gas infrastructure environment including Hot Taps and Squeeze-off tie-ins.    
  • Sound knowledge of the APGA Code of Practice
  • A strong safety-focused culture
  • Field based and hands on

This role is offered on FIFO arrangement from Brisbane or local hire on an 18 on and 10 off roster.
