The Opportunity 

We are seeking a Technical Services Superintendent to lead a team of Mine Engineers and Environmental Advisors to provide accurate, timely and innovative mine plans that can be implemented safely and efficiently at our Lake Vermont located 19kms north of Dysart.

About the role

Working a 5/2, 4/3 day shift only roster reporting to the Technical Services Manager, your duties will include:   

  • Facilitate periodic reviews of all critical mine planning inputs and reconcile actual vs planned performance
  • Lead development of mine design, weekly planning and scheduling process documents and seek feedback/review through mine planning COP
  • Participate in regular client & internal meetings to address ongoing mine planning methodologies, and strategies.
  • Ensure regular engagement and work collaboratively with site technical services personnel and provide mentoring in technical development.
  • Understand and communicate contractual requirements both internally and with client.
  • Provide mentoring to graduates
  • Provide expert input into the Mine Planning COP
  • Development of mid term mine plan volumes and financial forecasting
  • Identify project risks from a technical, HSE and cost perspective during the mine planning phase so as to ensure their potential impact on the project are identified, documented and communicated
  • Ensure that risk management checklists are used for mine design and scheduling activities
  • Ensure that appropriate risk mitigation strategies are identified and make recommendation to Technical Services/ Site / Project Management

About you

The ideal candidate will have extensive mine planning and engineering experience at a large scale mining operation, as well as an advanced understanding of computerised mine planning systems. You will also possess strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish effective working relationships with key internal and external clients.

Additionally, you will have:

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications;
  • Previous experience in a technical services senior role,
  • Extensive experience in a mining engineering environment,
  • Proven ability to manage a team with positive outcomes,
  • Can demonstrate positive stakeholder engagement,
  • Proficient in financial, mine planning and scheduling packages,
  • Analytical and strategic thinking as well as problem solving and lateral thinking,
  • Knowledge of the relevant regulations, guidelines and Australian standards.
