About the role

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Diversity & Inclusion Officer will support achievement of Thiess’ community, diversity and inclusion objectives, including participation, retention and development of Aboriginal, female and employees from diverse backgrounds, community engagement and social investment.

This is a site-based position is located at Iron Bridge on an 8/6 roster, FIFO from Perth.

In this role, you will;

  • Support Aboriginal, female and employees from diverse backgrounds in line with Thiess’ people processes.
  • Conduct regular contact and provide culturally appropriate mentorship to Aboriginal and female employees that promotes personal and career growth potential.
  • Proactively support people leaders in fostering and strengthening the engagement of Aboriginal, female and employees from diverse backgrounds.
  • Support New to Industry and Pathways Programs.
  • Collaborate with community to enable cultural protocols and maintain operational requirements.
  • Maintain stakeholder engagement records and proactively contribute to all Iron Bridge reporting requirements.
  • Support the implementation of the Local Participation and Aboriginal Engagement Management Plan and CDI related programs including Reconciliation Action Plan, LGBTQ+ Allies Network.
  • Facilitate and promote safety standards and behaviors consistent with Our HSE Culture Framework.

About you

  • Vocational or tertiary studies in social sciences, humanities, communications, human resources or business are desirable.
  • A proven ability to deliver on engagement and retention of under-represented groups in the workforce.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain networks and engagement with Aboriginal communities.
  • Proactive communication and listening skills and ability to connect and build trust with people at all levels.
  • Negotiation, facilitation, mentoring and mediation skills.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Time management and organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiar with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and capable of creating visually compelling presentations.
